Getting to Know the Area
 
Escape the crowds at Waikiki and relax on a beach located on base. Hickam Beach is the perfect spot for learning how to surf, party gatherings, beach volleyball or simply sunbathing under the tropical sun. Party pavilions are available for rent, and additional amenities include restrooms and showers. Lifeguards are stationed on the beach during the weekends, and a surf shack offers rentals of beach equipment at affordable prices. Honeymoon Beach is a private lagoon just off of Hickam Beach. This secluded area comes with a lifeguard and picnic area. An alcohol permit is available through the Hickam Harbor office, but glass containers are not allowed. The JBPHH MWR Arts and Crafts Center provides off-duty leisure time activities for active- duty military personnel, dependents, DOD personnel, retirees, their dependents and guests.
The center offers professional framing, engraving, ceramics, pottery and woodworking services. Additionally, it conducts a variety of art and craft instructional classes to both adults and youth, operates a resale art and craft supply store and a vehicle resale lot, promotes and displays base-level art and photography exhibits for JBPHH and hosts Open House events in March and December plus Craft Fair events in May and November.
