On Base Housing

The Hampton Roads region has several housing areas. There are 18 enlisted housing areas with a total 3902 units, 6 officer housing areas with a total of 226 units and 37 flag officer units. The housing assignment is predicated upon your needs and availability. Wait time can be as little as 0-3 months, or as long as 18-24 months. For a current list of wait times go to the CNIC Housing website. On board Fort Story there are 200 new and 50 renovated housing units. Housing is privatized and managed by Balfour Beatty Communities. Warm family friendly neighborhood. Close to the bay and shopping, restaurants. Great elementary school. Little Creek very close by.

Thoroughgood

2.1 miles from base

A great neighborhood centrally located. Close to the beach without beach prices. The school system is really good. Close to Little Creek Base, Norfolk Base, not too far from Oceana. Also close to town center for restaurants and shops.
