At Cape Cod, the summers are warm, humid, and windy; the winters are very cold, wet, and extremely windy; and it is partly cloudy year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 24°F to 79°F and is rarely below 10°F or above 85°F.


The warm season lasts for 3.3 months, from June 9 to September 20, with an average daily high temperature above 71°F. The hottest day of the year is July 25, with an average high of 79°F and low of 64°F. The cold season lasts for 3.3 months, from December 10 to March 20, with an average daily high temperature below 46°F. The coldest day of the year is January 30, with an average low of 24°F and high of 38°F.

The overall cost of living in Cape Cod, MA is 13% higher than the Massachusetts average and 48% higher than the U.S. average. The following categories are used to calculate the overall cost of living index: goods/services (33%), housing (30%), groceries (13%), utilities (10%), transportation (9%) and health care (5%). From the list, it is clear that the categories of goods/services and housing are responsible for the largest portions of the overall cost of living index. Getting to Know the Area
Joint Base Cape Cod located on what is known as the “Upper Cape,” the area closest to the Cape Cod Canal. Parts of the installation are in the towns of Bourne, Mashpee, and Sandwich, and the installation is adjacent to the town of Falmouth. Cape Cod provides many opportunities for outdoor fun, such as public beaches, boating, fishing, parks, and annual county fairs. In addition, the area has many restaurants and shopping areas.  Boston is a little over an hours drive from Cape Cod where you can visit museums, historic sites, shopping centers, restaurants, or watch a game with the Red Sox, Bruins, or Celtics.


Some points of interest include Pilgrim Monument, Cape Cod National Sea Shore, Nauset Lighthouse, Cape Cod Canal, and Heritage Museums and Gardens. In Boston, some points of interest include New England Aquarium, Freedom Trail, Boston Children’s Museum, and Boston Harbor.
