Coast Guard Air Station & Sector Field Office Port Angeles (USCG AS/SFO PA) resides on the end of Ediz Hook, a narrow landmass between Port Angeles Harbor and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Designated by President Lincoln in 1863 as a Federal Lighthouse Reservation, and then in 1935 as a CG Air Station, AS/SFO Port Angeles is the oldest continuously operating Air Station in the Coast Guard.  USCG AS/SFO Port Angeles is responsible for conducting Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement/Homeland Security and Resource Protection activities in an area that includes the Strait of Juan De Fuca and the north western coast of Washington around the Olympic Peninsula to the mouth of Puget Sound.


USCG AS/SFO Port Angeles completes approximately 200 search and rescue cases per year. Numerous pilots and aircrew Royal Canadian Peace Officers were trained at USCG AS/SFO Port Angeles, and it is the first Coast Guard Air Station to use helicopter crews in prosecution of international LE missions. This mission includes supporting US/Canadian Shiprider boat crews in respective country airspace/waters.


The Mission of USCG AS/SFO PA is to operate and support the Air Station and it’s three attached MH-65D(Dolphin) Aircraft and also provide logistical support (Supply, Administrative, Medical, and Engineering) to Station Neah Bay, Station Port Angeles, Station Quileute River, USCGC ADELIE, USCGC CUTTYHUNK, USCGC OSPREY, USCGC SWORDFISH, and USCGC WAHOO. Missions executed include SAR, law enforcement, including drug interdiction and fisheries patrol, marine environmental protection, military readiness, logistic support for aids to navigation servicing, and many others.
