In Fort Riley North, the summers are hot, humid, and wet and the winters are very cold, dry, and windy. It is partly cloudy year round, and over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 20°F to 92°F and is rarely below 4°F or above 102°F.


The hot season lasts for 3.4 months, from June 2 to September 15, with an average daily high temperature above 82°F. The hottest day of the year is July 20, with an average high of 92°F and low of 70°F. The cold season lasts for 3.0 months, from November 26 to February 26, with an average daily high temperature below 51°F. The coldest day of the year is January 6, with an average low of 20°F and high of 41°F.


The wetter season lasts 5.7 months, from April 6 to September 28, with a greater than 25% chance of a given day being a wet day. The chance of a wet day peaks at 43% on June 8. The drier season lasts 6.3 months, from September 28 to April 6. The smallest chance of a wet day is 7% on January 12.


Tornado season is from April through October, with typical peak season for tornadoes occurring during the months of April, May, and June. However, tornadoes can occur anytime of the year.

Getting to Know the Area
Fort Riley is near the city of Manhattan, Kansas.  Manhattan is known as the Little Apple and has been recognized for its high quality of life.  Kansas State University is located in Manhattan and serves over 22,000 students.  Manhattan has many shopping areas, restaurants, museums, and parks.
