Getting to Know the Area
San Antonio is a major city in south-central Texas with a rich colonial heritage. The Alamo, an 18th-century Spanish mission preserved as a museum, marks an infamous 1836 battle for Texan independence from Mexico. Following the San Antonio River, the miles-long River Walk is a landmark pedestrian promenade lined with cafes and shops. HemisFair Park’s 750-ft. Tower of the Americas overlooks the city.
The city is home to three animal attractions. SeaWorld, Antonio Zoo and the San Antonio Aquarium.
San Antonio is also home to several commercial amusement parks, including Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Splashtown and Morgan’s Wonderland, a theme park for children with special needs, and Kiddie Park.
San Antonio is home to the first museum of modern art in Texas, the McNay Art Museum as well as seven others. You will aslo find five missions – four in the San Anontio Missions National Historcial Park and the Alamo.
There is also plenty to do for the sports fans with both the professional and college level teams.
